Update: 66-Year-Old Man in Critical Condition after being hit by Cyclist Outside Carnegie Hall

Witnesses and video show that a 66-year-old man is critically injured after he jaywalked into the path of a cyclist outside Carnegie Hall on Friday night.

A guy and his wife are seen on dashcam footage seen by the Daily News crossing a road in the middle of a block between two stopped cars at a traffic light on Seventh Ave., which is located just north of W. 56th St. in Midtown, at approximately 7:45 p.m.

The video shows the woman successfully crossing, but the cyclist hits the man on the west side of Seventh Ave. just before he can get to the sidewalk.

Manager of the Redeye Grill adjacent, Dereck Sansbury, was there when the rider, riding a fancy race bike, ducked under the woman and hit the man.

According to Sansbury, “the gentleman and his wife were jaywalking through the block.” “The light changed as they attempted to avoid a Tesla.” The cyclist attempted to sidestep the woman, but instead, he crashed into the husband.

Blood was streaming from a cut on the injured man’s skull as Sansbury and other kindhearted people raced to help him. The restaurant manager told The News that a nurse and the man’s wife performed CPR after determining the man had no pulse.

Dereck added, “He went down and cracked his head open on the pavement.” “There was a gushing blood wound on his head.”

“A nurse who happened to be strolling in the neighborhood. His wife performed mouth-to-mouth breathing while she performed CPR.

The man abruptly gasped for air after more than three minutes, according to Dereck.

The manager of the eatery claimed, “They brought him back to life.” “He disappeared for approximately thirty-five minutes.”

The man was critically injured and taken by ambulance to NY Presbyterian – Weill Cornell Hospital, according to police.

Remaining at the site, the biker expressed his gratitude to The News for capturing the crash on camera.

The rider, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed, “They ran out into the street.” “The male came out after the woman did. I was unable to elude them. It was unavoidable. I’m happy that it was captured on camera.

There have been no takedowns. The incident is being looked into by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad, according to authorities.
