Tragic Death: High School Florida Football Star Chance Gainer, 18, Dies During a Game in Port St Joe

Following a high school player’s collapse and death on Friday night during a game in Port St. Joe, Florida football is in grief.

Following his unexpected fall, Chance Gainer, 18, was taken to the hospital; however, the senior was subsequently declared deceased.

Although the wide receiver’s coaches allegedly raced to his side on the field, they were unable to save his life.

According to WMBB, the game at Liberty High School was immediately stopped, and the one scheduled for next week has already been rescheduled.

Gainer was dubbed “one of the best young men ever to walk the halls at Port St. Joe High School” by Gulf County Superintendent Jim Norton.

Gainer “had world-class speed, but more importantly, had a world-class personality” as an athlete, according to Norton.

Norton also disclosed that when paramedics initially attended to the 18-year-old honors student, he had no pulse. However, before he was placed in an ambulance, they did find one.

Concussion activists claim that Gainer is the 12th football player to pass away this year.

According to reports, the deceased football player visited Vanderbilt University lately to talk about maybe moving there and had a grade point average above 4.0.

In response to the incident, WDBJ7 reports that the authorities are scheduling bereavement counselors to visit the school to assist players, pupils, instructors, and staff.
