Shooting: 4 Killed, 18 Injured in Nightlife Area in Birmingham, Alabama, Mass Shooting

— Four people were murdered and eighteen others were injured in a mass shooting that occurred early on Sunday in Birmingham, Alabama, in a well-known nightlife district. Many of the victims were caught in the crossfire. Police sought the public for information, but no one was taken into custody right away.

According to an email from Officer Truman Fitzgerald, the shooting took place in the Five Points South nightlife zone on Saturday night just after 11 p.m.

When the responding police arrived, they discovered two men and a woman with gunshot wounds on a sidewalk; they were later declared dead. Fitzgerald reported that a second man shooting victim was declared deceased at a hospital.

“Multiple suspects fired upon a large group of people who were outside in a public area,” according to Fitzgerald’s statement following a preliminary inquiry.

Fitzgerald stated, “Detectors think the shooting was not random and was caused by a single, isolated incident where several victims were caught in the crossfire.”

Hospitals started receiving injured patients, according to Fitzgerald. Police have found 18 more people with injuries by early Sunday, some of which were potentially fatal.

Fitzgerald added that no one had been taken into custody right away and that the investigators still didn’t know who the targets were. Authorities urged anyone with information to get in touch with them, and even offered the possibility of a reward.
