Samuel Horcher Car Accident; Des Plaines, IL Man Died in Arlington Heights Accident on Sept. 2, Loved Ones Mourns

On Monday night, a head-on collision in Arlington Heights resulted in the death of one driver and left another seriously injured.

The tragic accident occurred around 10 p.m. near the border of Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect, highlighting the dangers that can arise on even familiar roads.

The crash took place on Rand Road, a major thoroughfare in the area. According to the Arlington Heights Police Department, the accident involved two vehicles: a Dodge Charger and a Hyundai Santa Fe.

The Dodge Charger, driven by 21-year-old Samuel Horcher from Des Plaines, was heading northwest on Rand Road when, for reasons still under investigation, it veered into an oncoming turn lane. This sudden deviation led to a violent collision with a Hyundai Santa Fe at the intersection of Euclid Avenue.

The driver of the Hyundai, identified as an 18-year-old resident of Arlington Heights, sustained severe injuries in the crash. Emergency responders had to work diligently to extricate him from the wreckage, a process that underscores the severity of the impact.

He was then rushed to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, a Level I trauma center in Park Ridge, known for its specialized care in handling critical injuries. The young man’s condition remains serious, with doctors continuing to monitor his progress closely.
