Investigation: Coast Guard Officer Charged With Murder of Diego Roper of Maraval
Diego Roper of Maraval was killed, and two men, a 19-year-old Coast Guard from Diego Martin and a 22-year-old from Belmont, are scheduled to appear before a magistrate tomorrow, Monday.
This follows on Friday, September 20, when Sabrina Dougdeen Jaglal, acting director of public prosecutions, gave investigators advice.
The dead was shouting “No boy, no boy” on the evening of September 8 when huge explosions were heard, according to police records. He was standing on the street in front of his house at the time.
The deceased could not be located despite several searches, however a red car was observed hastily departing the location.
There were multiple attempts, but none of them succeeded in getting through to the deceased through his cell phone.
An inquiry was started after a missing person’s report was filed with the Maraval Police Station. Later, on September 12, the man’s body was discovered in a rotting state.
September 15 and September 16, respectively, saw the arrests of the suspects.
