Homicide: Victim Killed in Langley Double Shooting Identified as Johnathan Hebrada-Walters of Edmonton

The 38-year-old man from Alberta who was slain in a shooting in Langley over the weekend has been identified by homicide investigators.

The RCMP said late Saturday that a shooting in Langley had left one man dead and another injured. The incident prompted the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) to be contacted.

Around 6:30 p.m., shots were fired near 196 Street and 84 Avenue, prompting the response of mounties. When first responders came, they discovered two guys who had been shot, according to the police.

Police claim that one of the victims passed away right away. The other is expected to live as he is receiving treatment for non-life-threatening wounds.

The RCMP said in an update on Sunday afternoon that the victim had been identified but that his name was being kept a secret until his family could be informed.

IHIT announced in a Monday update that it is making the victim’s identify public “to further advance the investigation.”

According to the police, Edmonton, Alberta resident Johnathan Hebrada-Walters, 38, was “known to police.” Preliminary investigations indicate that the shooting was intentional and connected to gang-related disputes.

“Police were also aware of the survivor, whose identity is being withheld,” IHIT stated on Monday.
