Homicide: Suspect Identified as De’Vante Moss Arrested in Double Homicide at North Ocean Boulevard
Florida’s Boca Raton After being stopped by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia this afternoon, 30-year-old De’Vante Moss is currently being held under arrest. The double killing that took place in the parking lot of 365 North Ocean Boulevard (365 Ocean Hotel) yesterday just before 5:00 p.m. is linked to Moss’ car. After the suspect fled the scene in a silver Jaguar, according to witnesses, Boca Raton Police officers used video surveillance to confirm the car had vanished from the area. The license plate number was obtained by detectives, and the car was added to a national law enforcement database as a wanted vehicle related to the homicide investigation.
Detectives obtained information about the circumstances leading up to the shooting, which left two victims dead and one hospitalized, by speaking with witnesses and gathering video footage while they were on the site. The suspect was seen sprinting with a pocketbook out of one of the hotel rooms just before the shooting started. The suspect was pursued by a woman who had just left the same room, demanding her possessions. The guy fought with the woman as he tried to get into the Jaguar’s driver’s seat. Following two men’s intervention, the suspect pulled out a gun, shot the woman and the two men, and then ran away.
The registered owner of the Jaguar, De’Vante Moss, was identified as the suspect over the course of the investigation. Moss is being held in Laurens County, Georgia until Boca Raton Police officers get an arrest warrant for him. He is expected to be extradited to the Palm Beach County Jail. Moss faces one count of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm in addition to two counts of first-degree murder with a firearm.
