Fatal Crash: Georgia Scruggs, 69, Identified as Woman Killed in Northeast Knoxville crash

: KNOXVILLE, Tenn. The deceased party in the Northeast Knoxville collision has been identified by the Knoxville Police Department.
Georgia Scruggs, 69, died as a result of colliding with a barrier. KPD said she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to KPD, two adult passengers were sent to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
A woman lost her life in a major accident that occurred on Friday in Northeast Knoxville, close to the Millertown Pike neighborhood.
Around 11:45 p.m., the Knoxville Police Department reports that a crash occurred at the intersection of Loves Creek Road and Buffat Mill Road.
A van struck a railing and came to a stop in the woods while traveling east on Buffat Mill Road, according to KPD. The van had crossed over Loves Creek Road. The police think that speed may have played a role in the collision.
At the scene, the woman operating the van was declared deceased. According to KPD, two adult passengers were sent to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injury treatment.
Workers are still at the scene of the collision, which is being looked at by KPD crash reconstruction experts. According to KPD, the victim’s name is being kept secret until their next of kin are notified.
