Chevrolet Sonic, On Herold Road, Struck by an Eastbound Lincoln Navigator at State Route 32; Passenger Tassie Sherman Killed

A tragic three-vehicle collision in Clermont County has claimed the life of a 51-year-old woman and left six others injured. The incident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 32 and Herold Road in Batavia Township on a day that will be remembered for its devastating impact.

According to initial reports from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the sequence of events began when a Chevrolet Sonic, driven by an unnamed individual, was stopped at a stop sign on Herold Road, waiting to enter the intersection at State Route 32. The Chevrolet Sonic, after a brief pause, proceeded into the intersection. It was at this moment that the Sonic was struck on its side by an eastbound Lincoln Navigator traveling on State Route 32. The force of the collision was so intense that it propelled the Sonic into a nearby Infiniti QX60, which was stopped northbound on Herold Road.

The impact of the collisions left the Chevrolet Sonic severely damaged, coming to a rest after striking the Infiniti. Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, assessing the extent of the injuries among those involved.

Tragically, one of the passengers in the Chevrolet Sonic, identified as 51-year-old Tassie Sherman, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. She was rushed to Clermont Mercy Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The loss of Sherman has left a deep void in the hearts of her family and the local community, who are mourning her sudden and untimely passing.

Another passenger in the Chevrolet Sonic, whose identity has not been released, suffered serious injuries and was transported to UC Medical Center for urgent medical care. The driver of the Sonic, though involved in the severe crash, was fortunate to escape with only minor injuries. After receiving treatment at the scene, they were released.

The Lincoln Navigator’s driver, who was also taken to UC Medical Center, sustained minor injuries. A passenger in the Navigator, as well as both the driver and a passenger in the Infiniti QX60, were transported to Bethesda North Hospital with minor injuries. The relatively minor injuries of those in the Infiniti QX60 stand in stark contrast to the devastating outcome for those in the Chevrolet Sonic.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash, seeking to determine whether factors such as speed, distracted driving, or other road conditions may have contributed to the tragic event. The Ohio State Highway Patrol has not yet released any additional details regarding the condition of the road or the speed at which the vehicles were traveling.
