Max was a proud graduate of Central Connecticut State University, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. He went on to build a successful career as a small business owner, founding and operating Maffucci Hardware in Wethersfield for over 40 years. Known for his integrity, dedication, and friendly demeanor, Max was a pillar of the local business community. His hardware store was more than just a place of business; it was a gathering spot for neighbors and friends, where Max always had a warm smile, helpful advice, and a story to share.

Family was the cornerstone of Max’s life. He was the devoted husband of Maria Maffucci for 55 years, and together they raised three children, Anthony, Gina, and Lisa, who were the pride and joy of his life. Max was a loving and supportive father, always encouraging his children to pursue their dreams and providing them with the wisdom and guidance they needed to succeed. His grandchildren were his greatest delight, and he cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was cheering them on at their sporting events or teaching them the art of woodworking in his workshop.

Max was also deeply involved in his community. He was an active member of the Wethersfield Lions Club, the Knights of Columbus, and St. Paul’s Church, where he served in various capacities over the years. Max is survived by his wife, Maria Maffucci; his children, Anthony Maffucci (Laura) of Hartford, Gina Rossi (Michael) of Wethersfield, and Lisa Thompson (David) of West Hartford; his grandchildren, Sophia, Matteo, Olivia, and Lucas; his sister, Angela Romano of New Haven; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giovanni and Teresa Maffucci, and his brother, Joseph Maffucci.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on September 10, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Church in Wethersfield. The family will receive friends during calling hours on September 9, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel in Wethersfield.

Max Maffucci will be remembered as a man of great character, warmth, and unwavering love for his family and community. His legacy of kindness, hard work, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
