Dr Geohaira Sosa Car Accident; Psychiatry Resident Physician At UC Davis Geo Sosa Dies After Accident
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the loss of Dr. Geohaira Sosa, a first-year psychiatry resident physician at UC Davis. Geo passed away in a tragic accident only two months into her residency. Having recently moved from the East Coast to California, she was brimming with excitement to start a new chapter in her life. This devastating loss has left our community reeling in sorrow.
Geo was an absolutely beautiful person, both inside and out. Her warmth and kindness were immediately evident to everyone she met. In the short time she spent with us, she touched the lives of her co-interns and colleagues deeply. Those who had the privilege of knowing Geo these past few months felt a special connection with her; many had already come to regard her as a close friend. She was just that type of person—someone who made you feel seen, heard, and valued.
Geo radiated joy, kindness, and authenticity. Her presence was a beacon of light in the often-challenging world of medical residency. Whether she was comforting a patient, sharing a laugh with a colleague, or simply being herself, Geo’s spirit brought a sense of warmth and belonging to those around her.
As we grieve this immense loss, we are also reminded of the incredible impact Geo made in such a short time. Her legacy of compassion, empathy, and genuine connection will continue to inspire all of us. We hope to carry forward her spirit in our communities, ensuring that her light continues to shine brightly in our hearts and through our actions.
