The Jefferson County coroner has now identified the 45-year-old woman who was killed in a hit-and-run on Outer Loop on August 31 as Crystal Daniel.
Crystal Daniel passed away in the hospital from her wounds. A man from Louisville named Michael Dahl is accused of killing her.
According to an arrest citation, Daniel was struck by a car that ran off the road when Dahl, 37, was traveling east in the 7700 block of Outer Loop. Police were informed by a witness that Dahl drove off after hitting Daniel.
Shortly after, according to the police, he struck a tree in the 8300 block of Johnson School Road head-on. Dahl was hunched down in the car when police arrived.
Dahl is expected to make a full recovery after being admitted to the University of Louisville Hospital. According to the citation, the witness saw Daniel’s crash on dash cam footage.
Dahl admitted to police that he had been consuming beer all day and was despondent before getting behind the wheel. According to a toxicological result, his blood alcohol level was.342.
Dahl entered a not guilty plea when he appeared in court on Monday. Dahl’s bond was set at $100,000 cash by the judge.
