Guifarro Melvin Palacios Obituary News: Following an incident that shut down Interstate 91 North in North Haven for several hours on Wednesday night, one person has died and two more have been hospitalized.
State police estimate that the collision occurred between exits 8 and 9 at approximately 5:40 p.m. According to state police, a Honda Civic traveling on I-91 South in the same vicinity crossed the road and struck a Chevrolet Malibu that was traveling on I-91 North close to exit 9.
Guifarro Melvin Palacios, 32, of New Haven, was ejected from the Civic and died while being transported to Yale New Haven Hospital, according to state police.
According to state police, neither driver’s injuries are life-threatening. Both drivers were also taken to Yale New Haven Hospital.
At exit 8, the northbound side of I-91 was closed, but it is now open again. The road was blocked for a number of hours.
