Hayleigh Curtis Salgado Car Accident; Atlanta, Georgia Woman Killed in Tragic Road Accident; Loved Ones Mourns

A tragic collision occurred on the East-West Connector in Smyrna, Georgia, on Wednesday morning, leaving one person dead and another injured, according to Cobb County Police reports. The accident took place at approximately 9:30 a.m., involving a gray 2020 Honda Civic and a silver 2019 Toyota Rav-4.

The incident unfolded when Hayleigh Curtis, a 23-year-old resident of Douglasville, was driving her gray 2020 Honda Civic eastbound on the East-West Connector. Concurrently, Dominique Najhawan, 27, of Grovetown, was heading westbound in a silver 2019 Toyota Rav-4. Both vehicles were traveling just west of Concord Road, a busy section of the Connector in Smyrna.

According to initial police reports, for reasons that remain unclear, Curtis’s vehicle veered out of its lane. She failed to maintain a single lane of travel, causing her car to cross over the raised concrete median that separates the eastbound and westbound lanes of the road. This sudden deviation placed Curtis’s Civic directly in the path of oncoming traffic.

As Curtis’s vehicle entered the westbound lanes, it collided head-on with Najhawan’s Toyota Rav-4. The impact of the crash was severe, causing both vehicles to lose control. The Honda Civic came to a rest on the westbound shoulder of the road, while the Toyota Rav-4 came to an uncontrolled stop, partially on the raised median and partially within the eastbound lanes of travel.

The collision resulted in fatal injuries for Hayleigh Curtis. Despite the rapid response of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The news of her sudden passing has left her family and friends in profound grief, and the community is mourning the loss of a young life tragically cut short.

Dominique Najhawan, the driver of the Toyota Rav-4, sustained minor injuries in the collision. She was transported by ambulance to Kennestone Hospital, where she received medical attention. Thankfully, her injuries were not life-threatening, and she is expected to recover.

The Cobb County Police Department has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities are working to determine the factors that led to Curtis’s vehicle crossing the median and causing the fatal head-on collision. At this time, it is not clear whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role in the accident.

Investigators are appealing to the public for any additional information that could shed light on the events leading up to the crash. Witnesses or anyone with knowledge of the incident are encouraged to contact the Cobb County Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit at 770-499-3987.

The fatal accident on the East-West Connector has had a ripple effect throughout the local community. The loss of Hayleigh Curtis has been deeply felt by those who knew her, and her untimely death serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can arise on the road.
